Swap 350 ??

Hallo zusammen.

Ich bin Hutch, ich bin Franzose, ich liebe die Mechanik, ich komme in dieses Forum, weil es in Frankreich nichts dergleichen gibt. Also entschuldige die Übersetzung. Ich spreche fließend Englisch, aber ich bin wirklich *** auf Deutsch.

Ich habe bereits einen GTS 125 (der meiner Frau) und möchte mir bald einen GTS 300 kaufen.

Ich möchte mir einen guten Motor für diesen 300 machen und zögere, ob ich einen Motor aus Rennteilen (Zylinder-Zylinderpolini, siehe Ursprung mit Vorbereitung) neu machen oder einen MP3 350 Swap machen oder der Motor a priori nicht schlecht ist.

Hi Hutchy!

Takes quiet some work, but the 350cc engine will be stronger than a tuned-up 300cc. As far as I know there were no swaps done yet. But there is always a first time! Let us know if you go for it!

Have you already done some research and testing or is it just an idea for the moment?

I have a 350cc engine sitting my garage for a while now. But comparing the 300cc and 350cc engines standing side by side you realise how much work is necessary to make the big engine fit under the GTS Skirt.

Would like to follow a thread someone else doing this bodywork /grinding, welding and stuff like that is not my favorite.

Hi, thanks for all your answers.
In fact, I have just read classified ad where the guy had done this swap.

I have no idea about this swap, but instead of doing a big work a 300 quasar, it is maybe more efficient to work directly on the 350.
I found some 350 motor for 400€ in classified.

@gts-peter, for you, what is different? Fixation on the frame?
Wiring?

It's just a much bigger engine and there is not much room to fit it into. I have seen the Vespa 500cc engine swap (LaMutata) and I know it's a lot of work. For me it's the easier way to tune up the Quasar Engine but for others it's might the better choice to do the engine swap.

Why don't you get a real moto cycle that fits your needs?
Anything that you want to achieve with a Vespa is costly, unreliable and without official permission.
Buy a KTM Super Moto and off you go.

I have already a Sherco 300 SER, a 911 SC from 78 and a Macan SD.
So I have some toys. But I like challenge.

It´s not possible to put the cylinder on the quasar engine housing.

It will be length and width you have to take care of. Width of the engine will most probably make trouble with the tank and airbox. Length might be ok with a 12" wheel. Wiring shouldn't be the show stopper, some of the guys here use the 350cc 38mm throttle body in their GTS.

Stick to your 911 SC and all the other gadgets. A Vespa will never be a racer that you are looking for.
There is a Turbo kit availbable for the Quasar. Get it, put it in and report. Or is it just hot air?
